Kathmandu: President Ram Chandra Poudel has firmly declared that he will not resign under any circumstances, even in the face of pressure from the security establishment.

According to senior journalist Kishor Nepal, Army Chief Ashok Raj Sigdel urged President Poudel to step down during a meeting of security chiefs held on Bhadra 24. Writing on social media platform X on Wednesday, Nepal claimed that the Army Chief told the President, “Resign, we will handle the rest.”

President Poudel reportedly rejected the demand outright. In response, he is said to have told the meeting, “I will not resign. Instead, kill me and accuse the protesters of my murder. Then do whatever you want.”

Journalist Nepal further noted that President Poudel’s stance reflects his determination not to “run away from the field” at a time of national crisis.

This reported exchange has added a dramatic dimension to the ongoing political turmoil following the Gen-Z protests and the violent events of Bhadra 23 and 24.
